Session de Travail 1
In the first session, students were invited to explore their "data traces".
The "Paramètres des annonces" revealed in addition to more or less factual categories such as "Female" and "18 - 24 years old", other inferred categories such as an interest in "Children’s education" which had never been explicitly chosen by the student.
In data downloaded from Google Maps, in addition to tracking data (latitude and longitude coordinates and a timestamp), another student finds estimations of their activity (still, on bicycle, in a vehicle, on foot) and associated "confidences" or probabilities.
A group of students decided to empty their wallets and pockets of various cards, receipts, and flyers and arrange them from formal (right, e.g. identity cards) to less format (left, such as advertising cards).
In Facebook, a student discovers a range of ways her actions in facebook are used to link advertising topics with her account (clicks on an advertisement, a like, installing an app).
A student contemplates downloading all of his data from Google. The "takeout" service offers a single download of all data, organised by google’s "products" whose size exceeds 1 GB.
